Coding Tanpa Gawai: Pelatihan Computational Thinking Melalui Aktivitas Bermain Anak Usia Dini

Abstract


The development of digital technology and artificial intelligence underscores the importance of strengthening computational thinking skills from an early age. The unplugged coding approach enables children to learn basic computational thinking concepts through play activities, movement, pattern games, grouping, sequencing, and simple problem-solving. This Community Service (PKM) program aims to enhance the competencies of Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers in designing and implementing unplugged coding activities to develop children's computational thinking abilities. The activity was conducted using a participatory training approach. The program involved 20 early childhood teachers as participants. Training materials covered concepts of computational thinking, decomposition, pattern recognition, algorithmic thinking, abstraction, problem-solving, and the application of these concepts through direction card games, pattern games, simple mazes, instruction games, object classification, and movement activities. The results demonstrated that unplugged coding can serve as a suitable approach for introducing computational thinking to young children because it is concrete, active, enjoyable, low-cost, and adaptable to children's developmental characteristics.
