Penguatan Pengetahuan Ergonomi sebagai Strategi Pencegahan Low Back Pain pada Pekerja Hatchery PT CP Prima di Lampung Selatan

Abstract


Low back pain (LBP) is a common work-related musculoskeletal problem that may reduce workers’ physical capacity and productivity. Hatchery workers face ergonomic exposures from repeated bending, manual load handling, and prolonged static postures. This community engagement program aimed to strengthen workers’ knowledge of occupational ergonomics and LBP prevention while promoting safer working practices. The activities included interactive education, demonstrations of safe lifting, posture training, simple stretching exercises, and basic health screening. A total of 152 workers attended the program. The evaluation included 56 participants who completed both the pretest and posttest. The mean knowledge score increased from 7.09 ± 2.126 to 8.38 ± 1.199. A paired t-test identified a significant difference, with t(55) = −4.299, p < 0.001, and Cohen’s d = 0.57. Participants also became more active in identifying hazardous postures and practising safer lifting techniques. The program improved ergonomic knowledge and may support the company’s efforts to integrate regular ergonomic training into its occupational health and safety program.
